WANT TO DRINK MORE WATER? TRY THIS...

We’re sharing our top 3 tips for drinking more water and staying hydrated.

If you’re anything like me, some days you drink 8 glasses of water, and other days you go hours without taking a sip. (Oops!)

Whether you’re busy, forgetful, or just have a lack of thirst – your H2O habits can make or break your health.

The truth is, staying hydrated is one of the easiest and most helpful ways to keep your body and mind in tip-top shape. But how much water do you need per day? And how does dehydration affect your health?

We’re sharing our top three tips for staying hydrated, healthy, and happy. Water you waiting for? Keep reading!

How to drink more water

WATER IS ESSENTIAL TO HUMAN HEALTH

Did you know? Nearly every part of you is composed of water – from your brain and heart, to your skin and bones. In fact, your body is made up of 60% of water. So, it’s no wonder why staying hydrated is so important.

Water is essential for many functions throughout your body.

  • It regulates body temperature
  • Keeps joints lubricated
  • Prevents infections
  • Delivers nutrients to cells
  • Keeps organs functioning
  • Assists with digestion
  • Flushes bacteria from your bladder

On top of that, your hydration status strongly influences your energy levels, brain function, sleep quality, mood, and weight. With all of this in mind, you may be surprised to learn that the average American still only drinks 1.8 cups of water a day, and lives in a state of dehydration. This often results in fatigue, dizziness, dry skin, headaches, concentration difficulties, and more.

An easy solution? Drink more water! According to experts, the average adult woman needs roughly 11 cups of water per day, while men need around 16 cups. But as with most things, the amount varies per individual. To figure out how much water you need, divide your weight (in pounds) in half, and drink that many ounces. But don’t forget, if you’re exercising you’ll need to make up for the water you’re losing in sweat.

Whether you forget to drink water, or just dislike the taste – we’re sharing some of our top three tips to help keep you hydrated and healthy.

TOP 3 TIPS FOR DRINKING MORE WATER

BUY A REUSABLE BOTTLE

A reusable water bottle allows you to keep better track of your sips. Whether you’re busy at home, or out running errands – keeping your water bottle in sight is a great reminder to drink up. (Not to mention it’s better for the environment than disposable, plastic bottles.) Ready for on-the-go hydration? This BPA-free stainless steel bottle will keep your water cold and fits perfectly in most cup holders. Plus, it comes with a screw-on, spill resistant bamboo lid and an easy carry handle.

INFUSE YOUR WATER

If you don’t love the flavor of plain water you’re less likely to go back for more. Our secret? Infuse it! Give your water natural flavor with fresh fruits and herbs such as berries, mint, citrus, and melon. Want an even bigger boost? Add superfoods! Your Super mixes take quenching your thirst to a whole new level. Whether you’re using our immune-supporting Vitamin C Boost, or antioxidant-rich Forever Beautiful – you’ll get the benefits of nutrient-rich superfoods with each sip.

EAT HYDRATING FOODS

Not all of the water you need has to come from a tall glass. If you eat a healthy, whole food diet, you’re already consuming some water. And no, that doesn’t let you off the hook completely, but it can help prevent dehydration. In addition to vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants these fruits and veggies contain the highest amounts of water:

  • Cucumbers (95% water)
  • Celery (95% water)
  • Iceberg lettuce (95%water)
  • Zucchini (95% water)
  • Watermelon (91% water)

DRINK UP, YOUR BODY WILL THANK YOU

Being well hydrated comes with many health benefits, from improved physical performance, to healthier skin. However, many of us aren’t getting enough water. If you find yourself drinking below the healthy amount, try challenging yourself to drink an 8oz glass of water per hour.

When it comes to water, the pure stuff is always best. Store-bought flavored water is usually rich in added sugar and can be just as unhealthy as soda. But if it's the flavor you’re after, try our fruit-infused spa water! It’s made with fresh fruit, mint, and our hormone-balancing Moon Balance mix. Cheers!
